We’ll be on the road for months.’ Yusef looked around his room – what was his most precious thing? If he took his stamps they could sell them if they needed money later, but there was his ancient teddy that his daddy gave him when he was born, and a piece of coral he had collected the only time he had ever seen the sea.

Phuket has long been celebrated for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife and unique cultural blend. Approaching a drum circle for the first time may seem like you’re in an Indiana Jones movie. It’s a strange new land with different rhythms interweaving simultaneously, a tribal feel, and all kinds of people. For many, a drum circle is a strange activity and as such they avoid it.

As the building boom across Phuket continues, a lack of facilities to support this growth is starting to become apparent. I recently heard the sad news that an old friend and enthusiastic Phuket visitor named Sid Carter had passed away in his English hometown of Southampton.
