After close to a year without any domestic competition, the AFL Masters has been confirmed to take place at the Alan Cooke Ground (ACG) in Thalang on Saturday, Dec 2.
This year three teams will be fighting it out on the oval with the Singapore Sharks travelling north to join the Thailand Sabretooth Tigers and Phuket Power in battling for the 2023 Pacific Cross Health Insurance Over 35’s AFL Andaman Cup.
There will be a maximum of eight teams across both men’s and women’s divisions with a maximum of 12 players per side and an age restriction of being over 35 years. All games will commence at 10:30 am and be played in a round-robin format of 2 x 12-minute halves.
Spectators are welcome to come along and enjoy the fun. Entry is free and a selection of food and beverages will be available at the ground throughout the day.
AFL has made a resurgence in Asia over the last couple of years with the recent AFL Asian Championships in Chonburi featuring 15 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams, including players from Phuket. In a competition of very high standard, Thailand narrowly missed out on defending their division 2 title.
